The inaugural Celebrate The River event in Spalding saw craft of all shapes and sizes take to the water.
It involved a flotilla from Welland Yacht Club, which also held an open day, up to The Moorings pub and back.
Visitors to the club were able to try their hand at sailing and more than 25 slots were pre-booked to spend time with a club instructor.
A further 30 ‘turn-up and go’ slots were also taken up and 23 new sailing members joined the town’s yacht club with more showing interest on the day.
Club commodore Sarah Prior said: “What a brilliant day, it was amazing to see so many small craft using the water as part of the Celebrate the River Day.
“As a club we benefited hugely from this and it attracted lots of visitors to the club, many of who have now become members.
“We were very pleased to welcome MP Sir John Hayes and Chair of SHDC Councillor Jan Whitbourn as well as a number of other local councillors. We also had representation from The Environment Agency, Transported and the RNLI.
“Huge thanks to everyone who helped make this event a great success and we would love to see the Celebrate the River Day become and annual event.”
There are also hopes of a raft race to be held later next summer.
The event was organised by James le Sage along with the Welland Yacht Club.
