Mark to stand in Angela’s memory

Local councillor and nurse Mark Le Sage has announced he is to stand as an Independent candidate in the forthcoming General Election.

Mark, who announced his intention to stand at a low key press conference held at Spalding’s Ayscoughfee Gardens on Tuesday, said he is doing so in memory of late Independent councillor Angela Newton.
Mark said: “Angela was the one who first encouraged me to get involved in local politics.
“She was intending to stand herself this time but sadly passed away before she got the chance.
“She asked if I would stand in her place in the event of her becoming too ill to do so and I agreed, so I’m doing this in her memory.”
Mark, who lives in Spalding, is standing in the South Holland and the Deepings constituency, a seat currently held by Sir John Hayes.
He believes that his experience and dedication make him the ideal candidate to represent the interests of the local community.
He said: “In a recent survey by Good Morning Britain almost 70 per cent of British people think the country is broken.
“People, including myself, have lost all hope and faith and feel disillusioned by today’s politics.
“I feel that having no one, in my view, I can vote for means we need to give the people of South Holland and The Deepings someone they can trust and rely on to put them first.”
A well-known face who is a passionate advocate for the community and campaigner for good causes, Mark says he has a thorough understanding of issues facing the South Holland and The Deepings area, due to serving as a local councillor and from working as a nurse in The Deepings.
His campaign will focus on several key areas that he’s highlighted as being of utmost importance to the local people.
These include safety, anti-social behaviour, access to health services and health and wellbeing, with a focus on children’s health and dental care.
Mark is also calling on local people to help him mould the manifesto.
He added: “The local problems that affect you are the same problems that affect me and my family. It’s time for action and it’s time for change.
By listening to the voices of our community means together we can resolve issues that affect us all.”
As a local resident, Mark says he understands the unique needs and aspirations of the community.
He says he is deeply invested in the wellbeing of South Holland and The Deepings and is determined to ensure that its residents have a voice in the decision-making process.
If elected, Mark pledges to be an advocate for the people and will work tirelessly to address their concerns.
By standing as a genuinely, non-party-politically-affiliated candidate, Mark says he hopes to attract support from voters of all past party-political allegiances or none.
