Many chip in for new minibus for The Spalding Special Schools

Pupils at The Spalding Special Schools are getting around in a new minibus thanks to support from Lord’s Taverners and Lady Taverners and 13 South Holland district councillors.

The Garth School and The Priory School, which cater for children with complex needs between the ages of 3 to 19, match-funded the wheelchair accessible minibus with £28,000.

The Lord’s Taverner’s minibus programme has been operating for over 40 years and in that time more than 1,150 vehicles have been donated to special schools and organisations throughout the UK. The Spalding Special Schools minibus, which was supplied by Essex Auto Group, was the eighth donated by the programme this year.

District councillors who allocated money from their designated member’s budget were Jack McLean, Sally-Ann Slade, James Avery, Angela Harrison, Jim Astill, Jane King, Bryan Alcock, Gary Taylor, Francis Biggadike, Christine Lawton, George Aley, Harry Drury and Roger Gambba-Jones.
