Man rode motorbike to MOT so he could use it as soon as driving ban ended

A motorcyclist who was disqualified from driving, told a court he had been riding it to go for its MOT so he could start driving it as soon as he got his licence back.

Brad Dunford, 23, of Surfleet Road, Surfleet admitted driving while disqualified and without a driving licence or insurance when he appeared before magistrates in Boston.

Daniel Pietryka, prosecuting, told the court Dunford had been disqualified from driving for a year in July 2020 but he was involved in a road traffic collision on May 15 this year while driving his Honda motorcycle in Swineshead Road.

Mitigating, Helen Coney said he had been riding it for its MOT so he could start to use it when his driving ban ended and he could not afford to have it transported. He had completed 10 months of the ban before making this foolish decision,” she said.

Dunford was fined £125 and eight penalty points were put on his licence.

He was also ordered to pay a total of £119 in court costs and charges.
