Man on trial accused of rape and strangulation

A Spalding man has gone on trial accused of raping a woman and intentional strangulation.

Zigbeniew Kaczmaek, 51, of Carrington Road, Spalding, denies eight charges.

They include four charges of rape and one charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Kaczmaek also denies one charge of intentional strangulation on December 15 2023.

He also denies a further charge of suffocation on December 17 last year.

A police interview made with the alleged victim, who can not be identified, was played to jurors at Lincoln Crown Court.

Kaczmaek denies all the charges.

His trial before Judge James House KC is expected to last five days.
