A 43-year-old man who assaulted his former partner of 18 years during an argument when he went to collect some of his property, has been fined just £40 by magistrates in Boston.
Philip Henry Parker, now living at Elizabeth Crescent in Deeping St Nicholas, admitted assaulting his
former partner by beating her and damaging a stool and a desk during the argument which took
place at the home they once shared together in Station Road, Twenty.
Marie Stace, prosecuting, said the couple split up after the victim told Parker to leave because she believed he had started an affair with someone he had met on a holiday they had shared in Tenerife in May.
The court heard Parker returned to the home on June 15 to collect some of his property and an argument took place during which he grabbed the victim by the wrists and forced her back against a wall and a child safety gate on the stairs, causing her pain and discomfort mShe said he also picked up a footstool and threw it at a computer desk, damaging both.
Parker, who was not represented, told the magistrates he had apologised to the victim before the police
arrived and they had been able to ‘sort things out’.
He told the magistrates he was not receiving any benefits yet as he had been for caring for the victim and
so had no income at present, and was fined £40 plus a victim surcharge of £30.
The magistrates also said it was ‘not appropriate’ to order a restraining order that had asked for.
