A Whaplode man who posted a topless photograph of his former partner onto social media, has been ordered to pay her compensation and undergo rehabilitation sessions.
Peter Briggs, 46, of The Tilney, admitted disclosing a private sexual photograph with intent to
cause the woman distress, when he appeared before District Judge Peter Veits.
Prosecuting, Paul Wood said Briggs had pleaded guilty to the offence at Northampton Magistrates Court
and it had now been referred to Boston for sentencing.
He said Briggs and the woman had been in a two year relationship but after it had broken up, he had
exchanged messages with two of her friends on February 21 last year while they were out with her
celebrating her birthday.
He said this culminated in hi, posting a photograph of her topless, which caused her ‘great upset and
embarrassment’.
Briggs, who was not represented, told Judge Veits that he drank alcohol to deal with various issues and had been under the influence of alcohol when he posted the photograph and admitted he had ‘done wrong’.
Judge Veits told him that the kind of thing he had done in revenge was ‘worrying’ and ordered him to undergo 20 rehabilitation days with the Probation Service.
He was also ordered to pay £500 compensation to the woman concerned and a total of £180 in court costs and charges.
