Donington man David Barnett netted a major prize during a charity ball after asking his girlfriend to marry him.
David, who has been a volunteer with Marie Curie for nine years, organised the Daffodil Ball at Boston United Football Club.
And during the event, which raised £3,410 for Marie Curie, David asked his girlfriend Carole Fines to marry him.
David said: “As we were all dressed up and all our family and friends were attending, I thought I would take the opportunity to pop the question to Carole.
“After I handed out the main raffle prizes, I called out one of Carole’s numbers and when she came to claim her prize, I said she had won me. I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me.
“She asked if I was the booby prize but thankfully said yes.”
The money from the Daffodil Ball will help fund 75 Marie Curie Nurses who work across Lincolnshire to provide care and support to people living with any terminal illness.
Lauren Alexander, senior community fundraiser for Marie Curie in Lincolnshire, said: “We had such a great evening at the ball and to top the evening off David proposed to Carole.
“A huge thank you to David and Carole and everyone who attended the ball.”
