Tropical storm of success

Inspired by a picture in London’s National Gallery, a group of pupils at Pinchbeck East Academy have created their own tropical scenes.

The Take One Picture scheme sees one painting from the gallery’s collection chosen each year with children and teachers encouraged to respond creatively.
This year it is Tiger in a Tropical Storm (Surprised) by Henri Rousseau and the school launched its project before the break.
“Children created collages, charcoal sketches, creative writing, paint mixing and diary entries to name a few examples,” said an academy spokesman.
There was a competition to create a diarama of the rainforest inspired by the painting.
Classrooms were open before the holiday so parents could see the wonderful work.
