Long Sutton Parish Council raises precept

Long Sutton Parish Council is to raise its share of the precept by around 6.8 percent.

At its council meeting on January 24, the authority announced that due to the rise it will collect a total of £81,607 and increase of £5,607 on the last financial year.

A spokesman for the council said: “This included addition costs of the cleaning and illumination of the War Memorial, outdoor gym equipment, election costs, parish council office revenue costs.”

The council also resolved at the meeting to send a planning application to extend the London Road cemetery stating that alternate options would prove too costly.

A previous application for the site was refused planning permission.

Councillors have also requested South Holland District Council extend the public open space order from central areas of Long Sutton to include the Market Place and town parks.

The order allows the council and police to enforce a no drinking and no dog fouling policy and also orders dog owners to keep their animals on a lead within the zone.
