Lightning through to next round of trophy

On Sunday (October 29), Spalding Lightning progressed in the Egham Trophy against local rivals Boston.

The match was closely contested for the first half but Spalding Lightning stepped up a gear from about ten ends to open up a good lead before winning the match by 29 shots (93-64).
Although Spalding Lightning won on three rinks, their best winning rink was skipped at home by Jordan Philpott, with Louise Harris, Tracy Philpott and Simon Lilley who won 32-10.
Next up in the third round are Grantham on Sunday, November 12.

Home – Louise Harris, Tracy Philpott, Simon Lilley and Jordan Philpott – won 32-10.
Kevin Ekins, Carole Nunney, Annie Dunham and Graham Smith – won 23-9.
Away – Jean Patterson, Karen Martin, Martin Spencer and Dominic McVittie – won 18-15.
Stephen Harris, Julie Hicks, Chelsea Spencer and Mathew Orrey – lost 20-30.

Mixed County League Result
On Saturday (October 28), Spalding Indoor Bowls Club travelled to Stamford for a Mixed County League fixture.
Spalding pulled ahead early and were 11 up at five ends, which was extended to 30 shots by 15 ends before winning the match 90-54.
Winning on three out of four rinks, Spalding won 12-2 on match points.
The top winning rink was skipped by David Nunney, with Carole Nunney, George Deaton and Betty Deaton who won 27-8.
Spalding are currently top of the mixed county league south after three games and 20 points ahead of Grantham in second but they have a game in hand.
The next fixture is at home against Grantham on Sunday, November 19.
