LETTERS – Will service be cancelled?

My garden waste was scheduled for a fortnightly collection from my brown bin on December 16.

When it was apparent no collection would be made I contacted South Holland District Council to ask why.

The response was that not many people use the bin around now as they are not gardening so this collection would not occur.

Hence anyone who has been gardening is deprived of this service because many other people are not gardening.

So, fast forward to April 2026 when we are invaded by hundreds and possibly thousands of bins colour coded for various forms of refuse.

Does my recent experience therefore imply that if certain bins are little used by a majority of people, South Holland District Council will seize the opportunity to cancel the service for everyone?

Finally I would appreciate a clarification of the term ‘refuse collection’. It could be either:
a. a rubbish collection, or
b. not willing to carry out a collection.
