LETTERS – Town centre is in a state

Any long standing Spalding resident could easily explain why there has been a 600 per cent rise in vacant premises.
When permission was granted to allow Springfields to go on the very outskirts of Spalding it was always going to be the death of our once lovely market town.
Compound that now with the dirty, scruffy state of the town centre which never seems to be addressed who would want to visit and what for?
I don’t even like coming into the town myself as do many people I know.
I have lived in Spalding most of my life and I am ashamed to invite my family or anyone I know as the town is in such a state.
Millions spent on a road to nowhere yet we cannot clean up our town.
I witnessed the road sweeper cleaning the road to nowhere yet many streets haven’t seen a road sweeper for months.
Why have the successive councils allowed shops to be painted in bright colours, bins just permanently outside, and plastic coated windows. I could go on!!!!
