LETTERS – Tickets not very public spirited

A group of people who enjoy singing, regularly sing at care homes in the Spalding area. The residents get a great deal of pleasure from our visits and often join in the singing.
Recently we went to Tonic Health to sing with the Dementia Club and their carers. Everyone had a lovely afternoon.
Sadly two of the volunteer singers found, on leaving the venue, that we had been given a parking fine by SHDC for £50 reduced to £25 for payment within 14 days.
Both singers genuinely thought they had done what was necessary to pay the £1 for two hours, only to find later that the ticket issued was noted “declined”. We had only stayed an hour and a half.
Shame on you SHDC for not being compassionate towards public spirited volunteers.
Maybe potential volunteers should think twice?
