LETTERS – Please inform the public

I picked up my copy of the Voice on Thursday afternoon as usual on my way home but on getting to read it after tea I found that a one day ‘flash sale’ was being held in a Holbeach shop but on that very same Thursday – quite unbelievable.

I note this is the brainchild of Holbeach Coun Tracey Carter to highlight the retail shops in the town but possibly some advance warning of it taking place would have been nice as this supposed news was history by the time I, and no doubt others, had read it.

It may have been on social media beforehand but not everybody has or wants social media but if that is the case how come we are reading about it in this local newspaper at the ‘11th hour’ as it seems a contradiction in terms.

With the recent nonsensical street entertainment that took place on market day in Spalding recently that nobody had any idea was going to take place or even why until afterwards, is there some competition we are not aware of among local councils to see who can run events in secret while not bothering to inform the public until they are over?

So to these people in wonderful positions with wonderful ideas could you please inform the public of any of your amazing bright ideas before they happen and not afterwards as it would be nice to know beforehand or as Sherlock Holmes might have put it, quite elementary.
