LETTERS – Pink hawthorn is a lovely gift

On the road from Surfleet to Gosberton there’s a row of pink-flowering hawthorn trees.

Now, it is possible to make a row of hawthorn using pieces of self-sown plants but I would expect them to be white-flowering.

I think a person would have to make a deliberate decision to buy and plant a row of pink-flowerers.

I have no idea who did it and I can’t remember how many years they’ve been there, but I do think that they are a lovely gift to the world.
