LETTERS – Park paths are atrocious

I am disabled and use a mobility scooter to take my dog for a walk.
Sadly it’s too heavy to put in my car and drive somewhere different so I am stuck in the village.
When you are able bodied, you do not think twice about uneven surfaces and bad path repairs, but since using my mobility scooter, I am disgusted with the state of the pavements in Fleet Hargate and around.
Today, after purchasing a self propelled wheelchair that I could get in and out of our car, I drove to the beautiful park in Long Sutton to give my little dog a change of scenery and smells.
I could not believe the state of the paths around the park.
Going into the park from the town side, the path was so ragged, it was impossible for me to steer the wheelchair so rather than just go back home, I decided to push it and give my dog a walk.
I managed to walk probably about 400 yards being supported by the wheelchair but the whole path was ragged.
It even started to cut up the wheels on my wheelchair, so we got back to the car and I put the wheelchair back in the car, got home, took photos and put it up for sale.
It is useless to me with the disgusting state of the paths.
Why are the disabled so poorly catered for in this area? Shame!
