LETTERS – No need for official approval

Towards the end of May I wrote to you about the closure of South Holland District Council offices in Priory Road presenting a problem for those like me in receipt of a German pension and having to get the annual Life Certificate authorised.

But the good news is that I have now received the Life Certificate from the German pension authorities and this year, as an exception due to the pandemic, they have waived the need to obtain official approval.

All I needed to do was sign and date the form, then return it to Leipzig.

I know that some other countries have also relaxed the requirements this year for the same reason, so anyone expecting a Life Certificate or equivalent from their foreign pension provider may also find it a lot easier this year.
