LETTERS – New technology for potholes

Has South Holland now got advanced pothole repair technology?

Holbeach Bank suddenly sprouted the dreaded 20mph signs warning of gravel, so I assumed Highways was preparing to resurface the road with that awful gravel that they’re supposed to sweep up later, but never do very effectively.

But in fact the road throughout the village has had a number of pothole patches applied. These mostly look different from usual pothole repairs and the surface is indeed somewhat “dusty” with a much finer, black asphalt grit than normal gravel.

Lincolnshire has been trialling a new machine, apparently, so maybe this is the first sign of it in our area. I have to say this looks like excellent work. I didn’t count exactly how many patches there are, but it’s a considerable number.

Now Middle Marsh Road up to Holbeach St Marks needs the repair crew, because some of the potholes at the kerb are incredibly large.
