LETTERS – New owner hasn’t even tried

Having been a resident of Holbeach St Johns for nearly 48 years I feel I must contact you and ask you to get the views of villagers and beyond about the planning application; and to publicise the fact there have been many objections sent to the planning department regarding turning the ground floor of the Plough Inn into residential.

Up to the time the previous owner left for Ian to move in, the landlady, Tabitha, provided a wonderful takeaway and delivery service all through the early COVID restrictions which was well supported.

There was so much excitement that a new owner had been found and we were all looking for the open sign to appear!

Our village needs and would support The Plough Inn.
It has been a vital part of community life for generations and the general consensus is the village needs it.

We only have the church, village hall and pub and all three contribute greatly to community life.

There is great anxiety, disappointment and anger with locals, many saying new owner Ian has not even tried.
