LETTERS – Motives for party hopping?

With the county council elections soon upon us I am hearing assorted comments regarding the local Reform Party candidate who has a reputation for playing pass the parcel in the political sense, as he goes from one political party to another with the latest target in his sights being newly arrived on the scene Reform Party.
This is all well and good but are his motives based upon supposed new, untried headline grabbing political beliefs or just to bolster his ego as the area needs a stable person to represent them, not a self-centred “here today, gone tomorrow” person if his history of political party hopping is anything to judge by over recent years.
Voters are also the taxpayers that need solid, reliable representation but not a self-gratification person until the next party comes along that looks fashionable.
Perhaps the Monster Raving Loony Party have had a narrow escape this time – or have they?
