LETTERS – Lucky to have Sir John

Local MP for South Holland and the Deepings, Sir John Hayes recently received an honorary doctorate for his services to education from the University of Bolton.

Sir John has played a big role in changing the national narrative about vocational education through his advocacy of practical learning and then went on to put theory into practice as a Government Minister by revitalising apprenticeships.

In my view Sir John brings extraordinary qualities to politics, in particular his ability to build bridges across the political divide which is unfortunately something that has become a rare commodity these days.

I am sure that many of his constituents will know of John’s kindness and generosity, but some may not fully appreciate his intellectual breadth and depth.

I can say without hesitation that South Holland and the Deepings is fortunate indeed to be represented by Sir John.
