Long Sutton Parish Council are taking a pro-active approach in dealing with the high levels of speeding and are continuing their Community Speed Watch campaign with some new volunteers.
Following a number of serious incidents within the Long Sutton built up area the Parish Council is determined to raise awareness of the need to reduce the high speeds of many motorists in Long Sutton, thereby making our roads safer.
Lincolnshire Police, the Road Safety Partnership and Lincolnshire County Council in partnership have set up the Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership to administer the scheme.
Community Speed Watch is a scheme to allow trained volunteers to address speed concerns in the community. This is achieved by undertaking high-visibility roadside operations to educate speeding drivers, with a view to improving driver behaviour. In addition to report to the police the details of speeding vehicles in specific areas where speed is of concern and feedback is given and problem-solving schemes are available.
Community Speed Watch initiatives are not enforcement; it is about raising awareness of speeding within the community and educating drivers.

Community Speed Watch schemes are set up to deter those drivers who speed in the community. Frequent and unannounced Community Speed Watch teams will be out and about around Long Sutton on a regular but unpredictable basis, so speeding motorists be warned.
