LETTERS – Incapable of solving the problem

I was not surprised to read of George Scott’s frustration over the continuing lack of effective action regarding speeding in Pinchbeck.
It would seem that the three bodies involved with this issue are incapable of working together to solve the problem.
Their individual lack of responsibility and accountability is both astounding and disgraceful.
The siting of the two latest Speed Indication Signs only serves to demonstrate a degree of incompetence and a lack of understanding of the problem.
Speeding in the village has been an issue for years.
We were told over a year ago that the new roundabout would make drivers slow down – not so!
The new stretch of road and the straightening out of the previous bend have only increased the problem.
We have witnessed with annoying regularity all classes of vehicles being driven at excessive speeds along Spalding Road in both directions, including buses, HGVs, motorcycles and local taxis, let alone cars and vans.
When is somebody going to get a grip of this situation and put sensible measures in place to address this problem?
At present everybody involved is simply passing the buck!
I live in hope that common sense prevails but I am not holding my breath.
