LETTERS – ‘I told you so’ just isn’t enough

I refer to the article June 1, “More painful delays on town relief road”.
Somehow the words “I told you so” or “we told you so”, don’t quite seem to be enough to describe the stupidity and arrogance of LCC and SHDC in their decision to push through this relief road, or what we like to call it, the road to nowhere, which is now exactly what it will be.
The LCC highways has taken away £27.8million allocated for the southern section, which is disgraceful for a road already earmarked with this funding. But there were no monies raised for the middle section at all at that time. On the basis of this, maybe now you should cease building this southern section saving millions?
I remember quite clearly being at a public meeting held at SHDC offices for the protest group objecting to this bypass.
We were given 30 minutes to put our case forward but were told twice by Mr Gambba-Jones to shut up and be quiet or he would stop the meeting, while one councillor called us NIMBYs!
Maybe they should have all taken more time to have listened to the public’s objection to only building two parts of a bypass with no middle section?
So I would just like to say to Coun Richard Davies, executive member of Highways, congratulations on a job well and truly cocked up!
