It is outrageous and utter rubbish for G Kent to claim that I was suggesting a political party would condone the sexual abuse of underage girls!
Far from it. It was a Labour politician Ann Cryer who raised this issue and faced a torrent of abuse for doing so and next to no support from her colleagues.
G Kent seems to have a thing about The Sun (don’t worry your secret is safe between you and me and the whole of South Lincs). Actually it was an investigation by an award winning journalists at The Times that broke this story and the fact that 1,200 girls and young women in just one town – Rotherham – let alone the rest of the country were totally failed and let down by social services and the police.
Yes, sexual abuse of children no doubt happens in this area along with every other part of the country but I am sure that children coming forward to report such claims would get a fairer deal now than those teenagers did.
There was outrage the other day when the Prime Minister announced a review into the wide ranging difficulties faced by ethnic minorities and quite right too where it was seen as an attempt to ‘kick-the can down the road’ on this subject.
There was wasn’t a murmur when a few days earlier the Home Secretary launched a review (the third) into these attacks on theses young girls to ‘discover’ if there a racial element to these crimes.
All racism is wrong and should be treated and reported equally. Something this country has a real problem with. In the meantime all our values are under threat.
As often as the weather forecast appears on the news we have someone appearing to tell us how awful we are and what a terrible country this is.
Both are patently untrue. The response by volunteers in this pandemic has shown that.
With a tidal wave of redundancies likely to affect our community it is incumbent on each of us to reach out to ALL members of our society and seek to help them in any way we can over the coming months and years.
G Kent, I am a Muslim and don’t need a lecture from you or anybody else on Islam and racism.
