LETTERS – Further issues with sinkhole

There is now more to the continuing story in Station Road, Moulton.

Following the repair and filling of a sinkhole, it appears there may have been a further underlying problem (i.e. a blocked sewer) that was not previously identified.

It is more than likely that the former road repair will have to be re-opened to further identify and repair the sewer issue. No mean task being that the former hole was filled with concrete.

I am aware that some local residents had previously complained to Anglian Water about a possible blockage but were informed that problems were due to the unprecedented volume of rain causing water tables to rise to record levels. It is now clear that the problems went beyond high water levels.

It begs the question was Anglian Water consulted during the repair by the highways authority, and did they know the hole was to be filled as described?
