LETTERS – Floodgates remain open

If you asked anyone why they voted to leave the EU, about 99 per cent will say to have more control over our borders and to stop further immigration.

We did not have to go through all that nonsense as nothing has changed. The floodgates remain very much open still.

Yes, you feel for the Afghan people but we are a tiny island which is now full. We cannot even house or look after all of our own people.

To watch those people clamber onto UK and US aircraft at Kabul was shocking. More shockingly so, that the majority of those trying to flee were men.

Where were all the women and children, left behind to fend for themselves when everyone knows it’s the women who pay the ultimate price for having to dare to have been educated and wear western clothing?

The Government have told us we will take in 20,000 refugees (and by previous estimations on everything, double it and then add some). Who is vetting this hoard of men? Are any ISIS sneaking their way in, in plain sight?

They will be given homes, and in turn will insist their family are bought over, rent and cost free, given free schooling, dental and medical when a lot of British people cannot afford to go to the dentist and pensioners cannot afford to heat their homes and die in the winter.

I read that the Chancellor of the Exchequer has informed councils to “reign in the housing benefit”. This benefit is a lifeline to many, who for one reason or another, do need it. But they can find the money to house and keep, yet more immigrants,

If you complain about refugees, you are racist. How many more “for only £5 a month” adverts on TV do we have to endure, and in countries when you know our government, ie us – the taxpayers – are already handing over millions of pounds monthly to, which rarely reaches the people it is designed to help.

I am certain this will be the ultimate downfall of the Conservatives.
