LETTERS – Cyclists need to light up

On a foggy, damp and dark morning last week unfortunately numerous cyclists were between Stephenson Avenue and Spalding town centre thought it was a good idea to cycle to and from I believe their workplace with no lights on their bikes.
It was causing great concern and danger to other mechanically driven road users.
I have even had to put additional lights on our site’s main entrance so we can see them on the path crossing our gateway, plus extra signage to warn our drivers.
On a more serious matter, most of the industrial estate and further afield around Spalding are reporting a rise in fuel card thefts from various locations.
This is again putting serious financial pressures on the affected businesses
What concerns me is that I am hearing that the police are not taking it seriously or reacting to this issue and that those that it does happen to feel that they are getting ignored and nothing is getting done about it.
I must reiterate presently I have no problems, but I am constantly beefing up our security and these issues and complaints are not mine, so please don’t shoot the messenger.
