There is a tendency for people to bask in the achievements of others, a trait that is very often encountered in politicians, not least in the recent and ongoing virus emergency and the roll of the NHS.
There have been congratulations and plaudits from all levels of ministers, even the saintly Boris has been known to clap.
It might be the time to remind people that the NHS was set up under a Labour government and was violently opposed at all stages in parliament by the Tory party and on the final vote they voted against it to the man.
If credit is to be given then give it to the right people, the prime minister at the time, Clement Attlee and the health minister at the time Aneurin Bevan, two of the most able and honest politicians this country has ever produced.
A final thought on the matter, Margaret Thatcher at one time considered scrapping the NHS and replacing it with an insurance-based system as in the USA, think where we would be now, but she was shown the error of her ways by better brains and people with the capacity for joined up thinking.
