Currently we seem to be inundated with letters and comments from local residents who claim to have open minds but end the letter with ‘I will vote as I always have’.
The same people criticise those that are standing then complain not to have much choice. We currently see the comments about ‘South Holland Independents’ are a party, if you want to be independent stand as one, or the letter picking at spelling and grammar or the location of the printed leaflets.
At the risk of boring people I will say it again: The South Holland Independents are registered at the electoral commission, you have to do this to gain a logo on the ballot paper. That’s it, no other comparison to a national party, no one telling us how to vote, no one telling us how to do our business, no one telling us how many houses to build etc.
It’s just a logo, that’s it! All South Holland Independent candidates can and will act and vote as they see fit for the residents they represent.
Some of our candidates have leaflets from Spalding, some from Long Sutton and some from Oakham.
I shop local for nearly everything, in fact I use as many businesses in my ward as I can.
Unfortunately, specific types of leaflet from Oakham are half the price of those locally.
We don’t have a large national party backing us and paying towards the leaflet, we are individuals attempting to do our best for the area we live in and love, so cost, I’m afraid, is a factor.
Those of us standing as Independents or South Holland Independents wanted to have a positive campaign, we have produced a manifesto for all to see and have all committed to making it happen.
We are no longer listening to the rhetoric from those who want to run a negative campaign, it smells like worry to us anyway.
We are a group of like-minded individuals who want the best for South Holland.
If you are happy with the status quo please ‘vote as you always have’ but, if you would like change, if you would like South Holland to prosper again, please vote independent.
