LETTERS – Consider this at elections

I’m hoping this letter can remind local people of some important facts.

The county council elections are now taking place in May and it is seen as an opportunity to send a message to those in charge by voting Independent.

I once would have supported this view, until the 2013 county council elections.

Local councillors Chris Brewis and Angela Newton were elected under the banner of Lincolnshire Independents.

Just three days later they resigned from this group to join the controlling Conservatives. They received increased allowances as chairs of committees and supported all the conservative budgets.

These people are not the opposition in reality. They are the establishment. We deserve better than this.

Seriously consider this when they tell us they are Independent this time.
