LETTER: Told to take away rocks and gravel

Last week Lincolnshire County Council’s highways department sent a letter requesting I remove five small rocks and some gravel from my frontage.

On calling the highways department and requesting a visit to the property, yes I really have to remove the gravel which has been there for more than ten years.

I pointed out that weeds will grow and block the view when reversing off the property but LCC insists that only grass or weeds are allowed on the verge even though I have spent 22 years and hundreds of pounds maintaining a clear neat frontage.

They say they will cut the verge twice a year but in 22 years highways have never been seen down this road cutting the verges!
