LETTER: People of Holbeach should decide

Whilst I agree with most of the letter from G Smith, I must add that any dog pen is better than none. I do feel the move was a total waste of our money.

To put a picnic area in the place of a perfectly situated dog area was totally unnecessary.

Firstly you cannot get to it without going round the tennis courts or the bowling green.

Secondly you are unable to see either of the children’s play areas, which have signs saying ‘children must not be left unattended”.

The new dog area is inaccessible from the park, it is smaller. It should have gone the whole length of the park, so we were included.

As an older member of Holbeach, I feel quite vulnerable. I was told that a gate into the park would only encourage children to use it as a cut through to Tesco, as they do from the Park Road entrance, I have seen the children leaving UAH and a few just climb over the fences with no regard to anyone.

As for the football club wanting a 50-year lease please no, we would like our park back!

I do appreciate the club has spent a lot of money but the park was left to the people of Holbeach – it is not the parish council’s to do with as they please. Let the people of Holbeach decide.
