LETTER: More points to consider over bins

Further to our letter in last week’s Voice, there are a number of points for the council to consider.

The introduction of wheelie bins could actually save our council some money.

Yes there is a cost implication of supplying two wheelie bins to every household but due to their capacity (about the equivalent of three bags) they would only need emptying every other week, general waste week one and recycling week two.

So only one collection per household per week instead of the current two.

Surely a saving on fuel and less carbon going into the atmosphere so better for the environment.

Three other points on the environmental front.

1. Less plastic going into the waste system.

2. No bags to be opened by the local wildlife.

3. Vermin would not be attracted and encouraged.
