LETTER: Mr Walls needs to get real

What a load of tosh Paul Walls offers in his letter of August 4 to The Voice.

He attempts to suggest that a Brexit majority is not a majority after all as it does not include the non voters/abstainers.

He even has the audacity to suggest that Europe would never accept such a calculated vote given the closeness of the vote and the abstainers.

He even goes on for column inch after column inch about differing age groups and their influence on the votes cast. Where is he coming from?

The UK has never had any other voting system other than a clear black or white majority irrespective of age, race or creed. Perhaps he is aiming to completely redesign the voting criteria for all of the UK, well why not go for the whole of Europe!

One simply wonders what he is attempting to achieve in such a long, unworldly letter which must turn most people off after two lines.

Paul simply needs to get real:

1. The Liberal, soft centre of Europe is a key reason along with over population why the British public chose via the ballot box to reject Europe and vote to leave. The Junckers of this world, who sit in Luxemburg’s costly ivory towers, will never get real. Non decision making is their livelihood and what keeps them in overpaid jobs doing nothing for the people of Europe. The EU is a dead duck and history will show how right the UK was to leave it in 2016.

2 The non voters in the referendum, chose with their own free will not to vote, simply applying their democratic right. Who knows how the vote would have ended up if the UK had imposed an Australian-style absolute requirement to vote. Does he have a crystal ball one wonders?

3. The referendum was a free vote, it has been done to death, the decision has been made. We now need to accept what the clear and absolute majority British people voted for and get on with leaving Europe as fast as we can.
