LETTER: Lorna raised £360 for charity

Lorna Webb and her team of helpers put on a lovely coffee and pancake morning on Shrove Tuesday, raising around £360 for the Jenny Freeman Lodge, St Barnabas Hospice.

Mrs Webb was making pancakes until 2am the previous morning and then up again at 6am on the morning, making a total of 250 pancakes altogether, all enjoyed by the large number of visitors.

There were stalls selling cakes and scones, preserves, plants and vegetables and a raffle.

Mrs Webb’s helpers who also went in before the event to arrange the furniture in Mrs Webb’s home and then again afterwards to put it back in place were Ann Cooper, Jean Hill, Sandra Thompson, Brenda Robinson, Carol Pates, Irene Wright, Janet Darlington and Peter Webb.

Sponsors were Owen Thorley, Bingham’s Nurseries, Quadring, and Butters Group.

Mrs Webb’s next event will be a coffee and strawberries morning in July and will be for Marie Curie.
