Had a walk through Spalding today, what a sad appearance it is.
What did one find on our walk from Saxon Close to the town centre?
1. Most, if not all, the litter bins were full. Well, it was Monday and we had had a weekend – is that something unique one asks!
2. The area around the bin in the parish church yard (Love Lane) was covered in bottles and cans.
3. The bin at the top of Churchgate has slid to the floor (so tired).
4. The paths and roads are covered in leaves and general litter.
5. The whole area around the Tesco shop in Stonegate/Clay Lake is covered in litter.
6. The path between Love Lane and the adjacent Lime Court is its normal litter strewn area and the bin is full as usual.
Come on South Holland District Council, the town might be swept that often its wearing away but what about the outer areas?
One presumes other sectors of our town are also blighted by litter. Oops, sorry, we can still let out refuse collectors finish around 1pm every day.
How antiquated is that in this day and age, so what hope of any real cleansing that is meaningful? It seems it’s more about getting home as soon as possible!
