Spalding Marching Ambassadors Band (formally the Spalding Drum and Trumpet Corp) celebrates its 35th anniversary this year.
The band was formed in 1980 and has evolved over the last 35 years under the leadership of Jim Bright and his instructors who continue to teach young people the joy of learning and playing an instrument and about being part of a group encouraging friendship and respect.
The band currently has 19 members aged ten upwards and some of the current members have been in the band for over 20 years.
We meet on Wednesday evenings from 7.30pm till 9pm. The band is busy learning new music and routines for the year ahead.
We are having a reunion celebration evening on Saturday, June 27, and would like to get in contact with any past members who would like to join us. The current members of the band will be putting on a musical display and will have lots of photos and video from past and present events for people to reminisce over.
We would like to get in contact with as many past members as possible to invite them to the reunion.
The band has set up a Facebook group (Spalding Marching Ambassadors Band) that current or past band members can join.
We will be posting things about the reunion as well as information about what the band is doing throughout the year on this page.
If you would like to know more about the reunion, or if you’re aged between nine and 25 years old and would be interested in joining the band, please contact Jim Bright, bandmaster, on 01775 723087 or email [email protected]
