LETTER: Garden has started to flood

I live in the Boundaries off of Hallgate, recently due persistent heavy rainfall, a large portion of my back garden became flooded, with a colouring of a brown liquid.
This never happened previously, even after the continuous rain experienced from October to March.
I found that area behind my property, which had lain fallow, had now been covered with waterproof sheeting, crushed rock and then a brown sandy type covering.
Whereas the ground previously had absorbed the water, or as we have seen the old farmer would dig drain runs to discharge the water into ditches or dykes, no means of discharging safely the water off of the impermeable surface had been employed by the builders, and so muddy water ran into my garden.
To me this shows a remarkable contempt of existing householders, or possibly just plain incompetence.
Further I have phoned both Ashwood Homes’ (the developer) head office, the council’s planning department, and visited the site, with no response, although the woman at the council office said it was not a planning issue but she would contact Ashwood on my behalf, to try and resolve the matter.
I await their response, but I am not hopeful.
