When I read what Mr Hannant had to say (100 Saturday trains scheduled to pass through district, February 12) I just had to speak out.
How can the town centre manager not agree with this?
Ok, let’s put it into perspective.
If Spalding receives 100 trains on a Saturday that could potentially equate to one every 15 minutes.
Hold on, that’s fine because if I allow more time and leave earlier I will avoid it so Mr Hannant states. Er, no, it just means I’ll be still sitting in the traffic from the previous train because the barriers shut at least four minutes before the train arrives.
But wait, if I take my bike like Mr Hannant says I could avoid it. Oh no, I forgot I have a disabled wife, perhaps I could buy a bike trailer and put her in there?
Come on, get in the real world.
Oh yes, what about the emergency services? There’s no way they can respond quick enough.
What needs to happen is more pedestrian bridges are required, then perhaps people would find it easier to move around Spalding.
I live at the Wygate Park end of Spalding so this disruption is a greater threat to me and the other residents and indeed anyone else who lives this side of the rail line.
It would be interesting to see where Mr Hannant lives?
Perhaps I will now have to take my custom to Bourne instead?
