I write regarding “Elderly risking life and limb on overcrowded bus”. I’m sorry to say it’s getting worse.
We boarded the 9am bus from town which picked us all up at the Wygate Park area.
When we boarded the bus it was full, people were standing.
I’m only 75, but there were three friends with me who are 76, 78 and 79 and we had to hold on to the rails, or the back of people’s seats.
We had three more pick-ups on the way and by this time the bus was full to the brim.
Carol Hudson was right to say we were like sardines in a tin – it is very, very dangerous.
There were 25 of us standing and 35 seated – what the hell is Malcolm Wheatley (operations director of Brylaine) thinking about? I would go to the lengths of calling him a prize prat.
He took out the two early buses and now when the bus gets to the bus station what happens – the driver has a break everytime they do a run.
Their break is sometimes 10 to 15 minutes depending on what time they get back.
Drivers are smoking and chatting or eating out of their lunchboxes. They have a good job.
We noticed Carol right at the back of the bus and and grandaughter Daisy was taking pictures for proof for MP John Hayes and councillors.
Well done to them but what do we do until they get something sorted for us. We all know Carol and Daisy are doing their best and we would like to say thank you to them for fighting for us.
