There was more than a hint of the defensive about Christine Lawton’s description of her role as a South Holland district councillor in last week’s Voice.
She would have been better advised to keep quiet about the things she no doubt sees as her ‘duties.’
Sitting in on boringly bureaucratic meetings about things that have little or no relevance to South Holland and that neither she nor the council has any ability to influence, seems like a waste of both time and the £13,000 of taxpayers’ money every year.
I’m sure most people would prefer to see her tackling issues that actually matter to the people of South Holland – like keeping an executive eye on the dubious goings on in her department.
