Learning about fire fighting

Holbeach Guides and Brownies were given a special tour of Holbeach Fire Station on Monday evening (March 6).

They were told about the role of an ‘on call’ firefighter by James Tye and Nick Cott.

Fire plans and the importance of smoke detectors were also relayed to the youngsters.

They were then given a chance to try out a hose reel jet in the stations training area and luckily no-one got wet followed by a demonstration of how to remove a car door following a crash.

The Brownies and Guides meet on a Wednesday evening at the Holbeach Reading Rooms and anyone interested in joining can go along (Brownies 5.30pm to 6.30pm and Guides 7pm to 8-30pm).
