Ladies up to Task

Spalding ladies have won the Taskers Trophy, a national golf competition.
They beat Waltham Windmill to reach the regional round, where they recorded an unexpected win against Sherwood Forest.
They then hosted Mickleover and Matlock, again winning both matches to progress to a semi-final match at Lingdale in 30-degree heat.
Nothing fazed the Spalding women and they won through to the final.
There they faced Beeston Fields and were rewarded with overall victory, thanks to much organisation from Claire Rylott and her gritty and determined team who participated in the singles matchplay competition, which aids the development of grassroots golf.
The winning team consoisted of Jackie
Bailey-Scott, Sarah Gibson, Anita Cross, Jacquie Walton, Sue Matthews, Elizabeth Holbrook and Helena Steward.
As a reward for their victory, a donation will be made to Spalding Golf Club to be used for junior golf development.
