Ladies’ open day at Sutton Bridge Golf Club attracts 48 players

The ladies’ open day at Sutton Bridge Golf Club saw 48 ladies from other local clubs battle against strong winds and blustery showers to return some very good scores under difficult conditions.

In first place with 76 points were Anita Robinson (Kibworth GC), Wendy Castle (Beedles GC), Mel Steel and Shirley Simpson (Elton Furze), with the Gedney Hill quartet of Ann Chick, Lynn Exley, Maggie Bingham and Roz Upton two points back in second spot.

One point back in third, also from Gedney Hill, were Maz Sayer, Chris Bennett, Kim Markillie and Jane Cowles.

Margaret Butt (March GC) secured the nearest to the pin prize, while she also claimed the 2s competition title alongside Rachel Fisher (Milton GC).

Ladies’ section result: Sutton Bridge 1.5 March 1.5 (Karen Gillett and Joy Potter won 2&1, Brenda Bell and Diane Wareham lost 3&2, Nicky Elphick and Sarah Sheldrick halved).
