Lack of big innings costs Spalding

Spalding fell to a six-wicket defeat in the Lincolnshire Board Premier League at Grantham on Saturday.

After being put into bat, none of the visitors managed to push on, despite four of them getting past 20.
Ollie (12) and Barnaby Dring (24) put on 28 for the first wicket and Barnaby then shared a 46-run third-wicket stand with Keyan Gace, who went on to top score with 30.
Divyeash Vaseeharan added 22 and Harsh Bhandari finished unbeaten on 25 but the lack of a big-hitter meant Spalding could muster only 149/8 from their 35 overs against the eight-pronged home attack.
By contrast, Grantham opener Usman Minhas struck an unbeaten 63, aided by Zahid Mansoor (30) and Ahmed Raza (21no), to lead his team to a six-wicket win inside 31 overs.
Raza hit the winning runs, with a six to leave the home side on 155/4.
Three of Spalding’s seven bowlers shared the wickets with Keyan Gace the most impressive, taking 1-26 from seven overs.
Spalding Seconds suffered a heavy defeat at South Lincs Border League Division One leaders Ketton Sports.
The home side won the toss and their decision to bat first was a solid one with all their batsmen scoring well.
Dan Hughes led the charge to 333/7 with 118 before he was caught by Michael Healey off Thomas Decamps.
Decamps ended with 2-44 but Macey Andrews proved to be the most potent Spalding attacker with 3-56 from her nine overs, including three maidens.
Opener Thomas Preston (26) and captain Michael Kearns (24) repaired early damage with a good third-wicket stand but once they departed the tail crumbled with Sam Halsall (5-25) their main tormentor to send them all back to the pavilion for just 86 runs in the 22nd over.
Spalding’s third team conceded their home match against Ketton Sports Seconds.
