Knitter makes Christmas for kids

It will be a warmer Christmas for hundreds of children thanks to the selfless efforts of one Cowbit woman.

Jenny Clay, who lives with her husband Peter, said she can’t just sit and watch television and needs to keep busy, so she knits children’s clothes to give to the less fortunate.

“I’m always knitting and clothes I’ve made in the past have gone to social services, Pennygate Foundation and to Africa.

This year, Jenny has donated sackfuls of clothes for all ages of children to Ella’s Project, a charity that collects children’s clothes and distributes them to those in need.

Jenny, who collected dozens of patterns when she worked in a wool shop, said she prefers classic patterns and one cardigan takes about a week to finish.

Mark Le Sage from Ella’s Project collected the clothes from Jenny’s home and said he was extremely grateful.

“The clothes will go to families in the South Holland area in need,” he said.

Mark predicted all the clothes will be distributed by the new year.
