Knights ready for festive fixture list

All Pinchbeck United manager Ian Dunn wants for Christmas is to remain unbeaten and pick up a win from the three tasty local derbies they’ve been served up in the Chromasport UCL Premier Division.

Fifth placed United visit fourth placed Deeping Rangers this Saturday and host fifth placed Holbeach United on Boxing Day before the following Saturday’s trip to Sleaford.

They’re tough fixtures with the Knights having lost 2-0 in the League Cup recently to Holbeach.

“I felt against Holbeach we saw enough from us and before the red card we were the better side,” Dunn said. “We created better chances and we know we’ve enough to beat them and we can beat them.

“We want to play on Boxing Day and get the three points.”

On Saturday’s game he said: “If you come away from Deeping with a draw you’ve got a good draw that keeps the unbeaten run going but again, we played them there and we weren’t good enough that night.

“We lost 1-0 and they’re a good side if we can acquit ourselves properly we can go and win there.

“Would five points from nine be bad? Not really.

“But seven would be fantastic and nine would be outrageous.

“To come through unbeaten with at least one win would be my kind of target going into Christmas as it is tough.

“You’re going into different games and can pick up injuries.”

They go into the game after such a convincing 4-0 win over Kirby Muxloe which allowed them to rest players who’ve had minor knocks like Lee Beeson and Tyler Wright, the latter who scored twice including volleying home after a fine team move.

Dunn said: “We started at a nice high tempo, created chances and got an early goal. It was pleasing to play on the front foot.

“We could have scored three or more in the second half but in terrible conditions it’s pleasing we’ve kept a clean sheet and scored four goals and come away with no injuries which is all you can ask for.”

On Wright’s goal he added: “We’ve scored some good goals. We get labelled as this long ball, aggressive team but on our day we play some decent stuff and play it out from the back and will do when we can do.”
