Knights bounce back from Vase defeat with win

It’s been a mostly positive few days for Pinchbeck, despite a 6-1 loss in the FA Vase on Saturday at higher league Lutterworth Town.
The Knights ended their losing run the previous Wednesday with a 2-1 win in the League Cup at Holbeach.
All the goals came in the first half, Ryan Cook giving the Tigers a sixth-minute 1-0 lead but Ben Howlet brought Pinchbeck level just five minutes later.
Captain Nathan Stevens netted what proved to be the winner as the Knights held firm with their defence in the second half.
There was also a good 3-0 win at Whittlesey Athletic on Tuesday night.
Flynn Slater grabbed the first in the opening half before Peterborough sealed the points with Omar Sherrif netting a penalty and Logan Tate sealing it late on.
Sandwiched between was the Vase defeat against a Lutterworth side where Pinchbeck were very much the underdogs but in an open start had chances for Joe Melson and Joshua Panton while Ben Martin pulled off a decent early save too.
Two goals in two minutes put Lutterworth in the ascendancy but Slater responded soon after to give Pinchbeck hope and that was the score at the break.
Lutterworth made their class tell in the second period though, goals in the 51st and 53rd minute ending the Knights’ hopes before the hosts scored two more to make it 6-1.
Pinchbeck are at Swaffham Town this weekend.
